Tricity is a place for students. That’s why it is full of places to hang out with friends and discover the city by visiting not so obvious places to have a party.For example, recently Gdańsk has renewed the area of old shipyard creating there pubs like B20 or Ulica Elektryków. Gdańsk also has students pubs located in the areas near dormitories. However, the most famous place to party among the students is the city of Sopot where you can find a club on almost every corner.
Gdańsk is a famous touristic place not only because of the location, but also because of its widely known and constantly developing cultural side. When coming to the City of Amber you can be sure that you will not be bored. Each year together with Sopot and Gdynia it hosts various festivals and events.
Polish Film Festival is one of the oldest film events in Europe which promotes the Polish cinematography on such a wide scale – it exists since 1974! In the beginning it was organized in Gdańsk and for now the Danuta Baduszkowa Musical Theatre in Gdynia became the Festival Centre. Each year viewers can watch the most recent Polish productions that are also competing with each other for the Golden and Silver Lions awards, as well as individual distinctions.
Gdańsk DocFilm Festival is an annual festival focused on a documentary movies presented by artists from all over the world in European Solidarity Centre. It expresses the necessity of debate about the role and significance of human being in the workplace. Festival is also very interactive as it always give its viewers a chance to actively participate in the meetings with Polish and foreign directors.
OPEN’ER FESTIVAL is the biggest music festival in Poland awarded Promoter of the Year during European Festival Awards 2016. It mixes different musical genres and arts. Every year it gathers over 100 000 people! Everyone will find something for themselves, to mention some artists performing at the festival: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pharrell Williams, Florence & Machine, Radiohead, Sigus Ros, Drake, Kanye West, and The Weeknd. Open’er Festival was elected one of the 100 symbols of Poland by Kocham Polskę (I Love Poland) foundation among Poland’s most important places, people, historical events and achievements.
GDAŃSK DŹWIGA MUZĘ is an international, the only in Poland and second in Europe, festival entirely dedicated to the culture of dancing. Every holiday season Gdańsk hosts the events consisting of dance areas, relax areas, music stage, dance park. During the festival participant can join various dance workshops or even the dance battles for hip-hop and breakdance dancers. Another important part of the festival is street art, which is also included in the workshops program. Each day is ended with a concert of Polish and international artists.
